Manushya is an artistic universe created by Axelle Faes Cortes.
Rooted in the practice of embroidery, it explores the relationship between material, gesture, and inner expression. What begins as a physical act ; working with thread, texture, and repetition; becomes a space of connection, where creation reveals something deeper.
The name Manushya, meaning “human being” in Sanskrit, reflects this intention. It is not only about the craft itself, but about what the act of making allows us to access; a return to sensitivity, presence, and personal expression.
Through her work, Axelle brings together craftsmanship, intuition, and a refined relationship to material. Her practice extends beyond traditional frameworks, evolving into a language that moves between art, objects, and immersive experiences.
At the heart of Manushya lies a simple idea: that creation can become a doorway; a way to reconnect with oneself, and to give form to what exists within.
